To compliment the Thead/Bare exhibition at Recreative, Emilie Luckett will be teaching a contemporary embroidery workshop that will go over all the basics of the medium including preparing your hoop, learning the basic stitches, and using contemporary patterns inspired by the exhibition. As well as this, Emilie will also be teaching briefly the history of embroidery and how it’s transformed from its beginnings to now.
Emilie Luckett (b. 1997) is an artist who lives and works in Colorado, USA. While she dabbles in many mediums, she found her passion in fiber arts, specifically with embroidery. In her professional work, Emilie focuses on the themes of nature, human experiences, and people. Within that, she has a special interest in women and explores the ideas of women empowerment, emotions, and gender roles. Outside of her finer art, Emilie also loves to work with pop culture, quotes, and other fun, quirky things, and incorporates that into her embroidery work as well.
Emilie Luckett has shown in galleries all around the Denver-Metro area, including DATELINE, Helikon Gallery, and with the Museum of Outdoor Arts. As well as this, Emilie is passionate about sharing her craft, and has taught workshops at the Denver Museum of Contemporary Art and ReCreative Denver.
