Breathe new life into your wardrobe in this hands-on upcycling workshop! Participants will learn how to transform a woven button-down shirt into a completely reimagined, one-of-a-kind piece using creative sewing and embellishment techniques.

You’ll explore ways to personalize your garment by:

• Swapping sleeves

• Altering hemlines

• Adding darts, pleats, and appliqué

• Incorporating lace, patches, buttons, or paint

We'll use basic sewing and patterning skills to cut, reconstruct, and embellish your shirts. Techniques covered include:

• Cutting and shaping with fabric scissors

• Simple pattern-making using garment parts

• Machine sewing to hem, gather, and attach new sleeves or decorative elements

• Using fabric adhesives for non-sewn embellishments

Basic sewing machine experience is recommended, including threading the machine, winding bobbins, and selecting stitches.

Participants should bring one or more woven shirts (think button-downs), along with any fabrics, trims, lace, patches, or other materials they’d like to incorporate into their design.
