The mat collagraph is a highly versatile and accessible printmaking substrate created from simple, everyday materials. Known for its rich lines and deep tonal texture, this medium offers something for artists at every level—without the chemicals, specialized equipment, or high costs associated with many traditional printmaking processes.

Over the course of three Tuesday evenings, participants will explore image-making using reclaimed and found materials while building a strong foundation in intaglio-style plate preparation, inking, and printing techniques. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, students will learn how to construct durable plates, develop layered compositions, and pull expressive, edition-worthy prints.

This workshop is taught by Denver printmaker Erin Jones as part of the Month of Printmaking celebration, highlighting local artists and contemporary approaches to the medium. Whether you are new to printmaking or looking to expand your process in a sustainable and experimental direction, this class offers a supportive, small-group environment to learn, experiment, and leave with a finished body of work.
