My work is propelled by an interest in the individual experiences that shape us throughout our lives. I put the viewer in close proximity to garments that are important to an individual for a multitude of reasons. Trauma, celebration, nostalgia, contentment, and grief–among other human conditions and emotions–are woven into the fibers of these garments. The viewer is provided with a specific view of the folds in the drapery, the light and shadow and the composition that is indicative of a certain experience and as varied and complex as the individuals who have offered their garments, experiences, titles and narratives for the work.
