Macrame is a decorative knotting technique used to make textiles. Macrame is believed to have started in Arabic countries by the ancient Persians and Babylonians, where weavers would use the knots to finish the edges of tapestries, shawls and rugs. Fishermen also helped spread this technique, as they would tie knots as a way to keep from being bored.
Take a trip back to the 70s with instructor Vickie Autobee and make your own macrame plant hanger. You’ll take home your plant hanger and a pot. Fill it with the plant of your dreams, and add that 70s ambiance to your home.
Vickie teaches workshops in stained glass and ceramics all around the Denver metro area. See more of Vickie and her work on her Instagram !
